Foreword: The Abundant Life

How we live our lives determines how much we get out of it. Life is our state of being.  It encompasses the totality of our existence here on earth.

Life starts when we are formed in our mother’s womb.  Birth starts when we take our first breath as a newborn.

From that time on, we experience new things, sometimes good and sometimes bad. Our experiences are influenced by:

  • where we are born,

  • where we live,

  • our parent's status in society,

  • our parent's religious/cultural beliefs and

  • our parent's experiences as they were growing up.

As a child, our experiences are controlled by our parents, like where we go to school, where we worship, where we play, etc. As we get into our teenage years and beyond, we begin to make more and more of our own decisions until we become entirely independent.

The choices we make are off the backdrop of what we have experienced so far in life.

As we journey through life together, I hope to speak to certain aspects of our lives, ranging from discussions on

Family

Relationships

Marriage

Parenting

Finances

Career

and so much more. Also, I hope to address the factors that influence the decisions and choices we make daily.

Answering questions like,

Why do we make the decisions we make, whether good or bad?

What can we do in order to make good decisions?

How can we live more fulfilling lives?

Our existence has an influence on each person we come in contact with every day.  Our lives are intertwined with each other. If we look back on the life we have lived, there have been many ups and downs, twists and turns.

Each person’s life story is different.

Moving forward, I want us all to look back on our lives with no regrets. I pray that you will see that investing time in the relationships we have will enrich our lives. This is what I call the abundant life.

Again I welcome any suggestions you may have for topics that you may want to see discussed. Please submit any questions you may have to Ask Doctor Joan.

Here is to a good life, and hopefully an abundant one at that.
